Deputy Manager – St Albans

FULL TIME and PART TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE!!!

We have a new position open for a Deputy Manager to join a dynamic team at a thriving nursery near St Albans

The nursery is open 51 weeks per year Monday to Friday 7.30AM - 6.30PM, closing 1 week between Christmas and New Year

Located in the Bricket Wood area few minutes’ walk from Bricket Wood train station.

As a Deputy Manager you will be working with the Nursery Manager and the Nursery Directors to provide outstanding care and education, whilst you can expect to be nurtured, trained, and supported every step of the way.

What We Offer:

Key Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum Level 3 childcare qualification
  • Experience in a nursery setting
  • 12 hours paediatric first aid (essential)
  • Food Hygiene or equivalent training and compliance in food management (this can be completed as part of Induction)
  • Relevant safeguarding/child protection on training undertaken and a willingness to update training regularly (essential)
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and inspire a team to deliver the highest care and education standards and support and carryout supervision meetings, providing support to team members so that they understand Policies and Procedures, child development, EYFS and the nursery curriculum and regulatory standards.
  • Lead and support the curriculum to ensure a child-centred approach to operating all aspects of the nursery and ensure the observation and planning process meets the needs of all children in line with the Quality Assurance Framework.
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication with all stakeholders of the nursery and wider community including parent’s professionals and colleagues.
  • Support and manage health and safety policies and procedures and continuously demonstrate, monitor, and improve the practices and behaviors' that underpin a high performing safety culture
  • To be the lead Designated Safeguarding Lead at the nursery and hold overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of safeguarding and child protection policies in the nursery when the designated DSL.
  • To lead by example and drive the culture of Safeguarding Children and promoting professional staff behavior.
  • In collaboration with Nursery Manager and Directors contribute to succession planning, identification and delivery of relevant training, and additional requirements for personal development plans including coaching and mentoring for all staff.
  • Working as part of a larger team to ensure all essential day to day tasks are completed in line with the nursery demands i.e., Hygiene standards and room preparation.
  • Promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers to support the retention and ongoing occupancy growth.
  • Ensuring success of the nursery by maintaining expenditure inline FTEs and budget KPIs and ensuring purchasing is made in line with the procurement guidelines.
  • Engage with the Local Authority and understand the local offer to support the practice in all areas of the nursery.
  • Continuation of personal professional development to ensure during periods of full responsibility of the nursery knowledge and skills are up to date, full, and relevant to the role of the designated person in charge and responsible for leading the setting.
  • Attendance at staff meetings and training sessions to ensure continuous professional development.
  • Assist the Nursery Directors in ad hoc tasks that may need support e.g. funding submissions to the local council.
